Mathys is the new solo project by Mattia Foina, composer, guitarist and singer from Italy.

Mathys is influenced by American folk-blues and Irish traditional music.

During the years he has played in well-known festivals and venues, in Italy and in the UK (such as the Pistoia Blues Festival and the International Beatleweek at the Cavern Club in Liverpool) with different band formations.

While the leader of the band Homies, he released the EP How to kill your comfort hive in 2020. 

In 2025 he starts his new solo project under the independent label Risorgiva Dischi and performs at several live events with his band Les Mortels (Tommaso Frassanito on drums, Mirco Boldrini on bass and Luca Bernardi on keyboards).

In October 2025 he releases his single Rye, recorded and mixed by Domenico Vigliotti at the Sonic Temple Studio in Parma.

In the Spring of 2026 his first solo EP is going to be released.

He is performing at the Isle of Wight Festival 2026 next June.

Mathys è il nuovo progetto solista di Mattia Foina, autore, chitarrista e cantante di base nella bassa Cremonese. 

Mattia si muove tra elementi folk-blues di derivazione americana e una nuova fascinazione per il folk irlandese. Nel corso degli anni ha suonato in importanti festival e venues in Italia e Regno Unito (Pistoia Blues, Cavern club di Liverpool) con diverse formazioni. 

Già band leader degli Homies, con cui ha pubblicato l'EP 'How to kill your comfort hive' nel 2020, inizia il suo nuovo percorso solista con Risorgiva Dischi nel 2025 accompagnato da Tommaso Frassanito alla batteria, Mirco Boldrini al basso e Luca Bernardi alle tastiere. 

A ottobre 2025 esce Rye, brano che fa parte della compilation 'Il suono della bassa', progetto che coinvolge gli artisti di Risorgiva. 

Nella primavera 2026 uscirà il suo primo ep da solista e il 19 giugno si esibirà sul palco del leggendario Isle of Wight Festival, evento che si svolge ogni anno a Newport in UK.
